Cytoplasm
The cellular material (a semifluid matrix) located between cell membrane and nuclear envelope is collectively called Cytoplasm.
Within the cytoplasm are many organelles, such as mitochondria, Golgi complexes, centrioles, and endoplasmic reticulum.Cytoplasm consists of all of the contents outside the nuclear membrane.
Plant cells typically contain plastids, some of which are photosynthetic organelles, and plant cells bear a cell wall containing
cellulose outside the cell membrane.
It is mainly composed of water, salts and proteins. It is clear in color and has a gel-like appearance.
In prokaryotic cells ,as they have no membranous bound organelles, the cytoplasm consists of all the contents inside the cell membrane.
In eukaryotes, cytoplasm consists of cytosol, organelles and cytoplasmic inclusions(proteins, enzymes, acids and vesicles).

Cytosol
The portion of cytoplasm that is not contained in membranous bound organelles is call cytosol. It means all the cytoplasmic marerial excluding membranous bound organelles. Therefore it includes cytoskeleton, ribosomes, cetrosomes, all the macromolecules and solutes that are present outside the nuclear envelope and lumens of cytoplasmic membranous bound organelles. It is the soluble portion of cytoplasm outside the organelles. It is mainly composed of water, salts and proteins.
Divisions of Cytoplasm
Cytoplasm is divided into two regions
1.Ectoplasm:The peripheral (outside) gel-like portion.
2.Endoplasm:The central area consists of organelles.
Cyclosis
The streaming of cytoplasm is called cyclosis.Through cyclosis substances are circulated with in the cell.plants use cyclosis to transport chloroplsts to the areas receiving most available sunlight.
Functions
Many cellular processes occur in the cytoplasm.
1.The first stage of cellular respiration (Glycolysis)
2.Cell cycle ( Mitosis and Meiosis)
3.Protein Synthesis.
4.Moves substances around the cell like hormones through cyclosis.
5.Cytoplasm also dissolves cellular wastes.
